Hello everybody! I hope that everyone is having a wonderful Christmas season! We sure are! God is doing some amazing things here at Skate Church. For us, when it’s warmer outside we do a lot of demos and trips with our kids from Skate Church, and that is always super fun. Over this year God has done a lot of radical things in and through our lives! Just to name a few: we did 25 demos, 15 trips with our kids in the skate bus, baptized 15 of them at Skate Church, preached the gospel to thousands, and hundreds responded to the message and asked Jesus to save them. We are also currently discipling 50 to 60 radical skateboard shredders for Christ!
At this time of the year when it gets too frigid to skate outside we get over 100 kids every week at Skate Church for our Friday night service and skate session. A lot of them would not usually come to a church, but they come and hear God’s word through Skate Ministry! It’s truly amazing! Just last month, we had 150 skaters show up on a Friday night. They heard me preach a message from 1 Tim 4:12 where it says to let no one despise your youth but be an example to the believers in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity. Everyone’s attention was fixed on hearing the word, and many people were moved as I led them all through the sinner’s prayer. Because we are allowing a free place for these youth to skate on a Friday night, they are connecting with God instead of going out and getting into destructive behaviors like drugs, alcohol, partying, crime, and sexual sins. They are able to come to a warm, rad, God-loving place where they get to skate with their friends while being a part of a church service with an intense message and musical worship before and after the service. Then these youth are able to skate for an additional 2 hours after the service for FREE! What a powerful opportunity we have to keep kids off the street and to teach and train them how to become skateboard disciples!
The Bible says that God’s word does not return to him void but does its work in people’s hearts, that it is sharper than any double-edged sword piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, bone and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart! (Heb. 4:12) These kids are listening with their full attention and are hearing the very words of God! Our kids are not your church-going type; these are gnarly rippers from the abyss, But they are being touched by the Holy Spirit! At least 25 have met Jesus just in the last month!! Only God can do that, but he is using me in a crazy and unconventional way!
Recently God has been putting on my heart that I am a skateboard apostle. I am to follow Paul’s example to go and preach to a certain place, start a church there, and then set leaders in place to continue what I started and move on to another skate church, and another, and then go worldwide! I believe God has a huge heart for skateboarders and the people within the skate culture. For God chooses the foolish things of the world, the weak things and the things that are not to nullify the things that are. (Cor 1:27) God calls the things that are not as though they were. (Romans 4:17) I want to invite you to believe with me for skateboard evangelists, and skateboard preachers, and skateboard apostles, and skateboard churches. Will you join with me in this gnarly work of bringing the gospel to our skateboard youth and training them up to shred and spread the word of the living God? For all this rad stuff to happen it takes money and supernatural provision, and lots of PRAYER! We do take up an offering every week at Skate Church, but most of these guys don’t have the means to contribute enough to see this ministry grow into all that God has for it.
